    1．something to drink  “喝一点东西”。something是不定代词，后面跟动词不定式to drink修饰。除了动词不定式   以外，形容词修饰不定代词也需要后置。其顺序应为：不定代词+形容词+动词不定式。例如：   

   something delicious to eat一些好吃的东西

   anything interesting to read任何有趣的读物

   everything important to do一切要做的重要的事

   nothing else to eat没什么别的可吃的东西

   2．What about...是用来向别人提出建议时常用的句型。about是介词，后面可跟名词或动名词连用。例如：

   What about the movie/the new song?这场电影/这首新歌怎么样？

   What about going shopping?去购物怎么样？

   What about swimming?游泳怎么样？

   3．There’s nothing else in the fridge. 冰箱里没有别的东西了。

   句中else的意思是“此外、别的”，常用于不定代词或副词、疑问代词或副词之后。如：

   What else did he say? 他还说了些什么？

   4．What makes your friends so special? 什么使得你的朋友如此特别？

   在本句中，make的意思是“使得”，形容词special作宾语补足语。

   例如：We must keep the room clean. 我们必须把房间保持干净。

   The children found the story very interesting. 孩子们发现这个故事很有趣。

   I hope to see you very well soon. 我希望你的病早些好。

   Do you like your tea weak or strong? 你喝茶喜欢淡一点还是浓一点？

   5．She is as slim as I am.  他和我一样苗条。

   as + 形容词+ as,“如同……一样；像……一样”，使用形容词的原级。例如：

   Our teacher is as busy as before. 我们的老师象以前一样忙。

   Jim ran as fast as he could.吉姆尽快地跑。

   【注意】not as + 形容词 + as，（人或事）在某些方面不一样。例如：

   Amy is not as tall as Peter.(=Amy is shorter than Peter.)

   艾米和彼得不一样高。（意思就是说“艾米比彼得矮”。）

   6． We have been best friends for a long time. 我们是最好的朋友已经很长时间了。

   have been　是动词现在完成时态的一种形式，还没有正式学过，只须记住这里的意思是“（到现在）已是”，表示“我们 从过去某个时刻起到现在一直是最好的朋友”。

   7．She is willing to share things with her friends.她愿意与朋友分享所有的东西。

willing是个形容词，意思是“愿意的”，后面常跟动词不定式。例如：

   He is quite willing to live in the countryside. 他很愿意生活在农村。

    8．She helps me with my homework and she always gives seats to people in need on the bus.

她帮助我做家庭作业，并且在公共汽车上总是给需要的人们让座。

   1）help一词后可接多种形式的宾语：

   a.后接名词或代词。例如：

   They began to help blind children.他们开始帮助盲童了。

   He often helps his sister with her English.他常帮妹妹学英语。

   b.后跟动词不定式，动词不定式带不带to均可。例如：

   c. help sb with sth的意思是“帮助某人做某事”。例如：

   Please help me with the heavy box. 请帮助我抬起这只重的盒子。

   We helped the old man with his clothes. 我们帮助那个老人穿上衣服。

   2) people in need有需要的人们，in need是“介词＋名词”的词组，常跟在名词或代词之后，作定语用。例如：

   the man in a brown jacket 穿棕色茄克的人。

   the hotel opposite the station 车站对面的旅馆。

   a walk in the evening 晚间的散步。

   9．He is very tall------almost 1.75 meters. 他很高——几乎高达175厘米。

   1.75 meters读作：one point seven five meters，因为超过了1米，所以用meter的复数形式meters。

   10．Because of too much computer work. 因为在计算机上做了太多的工作。

   1）because of　和because的意思都是“因为”，区别在前者跟短语，后者跟从句。例如：

   他们因为下雨没去博物馆。可用because和because of两种方法表示。

   They didn’t go to the museum because of the rain.

   They didn’t go to the museum because it rained.

   2）too much“太多的”，用来修饰不可数名词，而修饰可数名词应该用too many。例如：

   I have too much homework to do.我有太多的作业要做。

   There’s too many kites flying in the sky.空中飞舞着太多风筝。

   〖注意〗much too“太……”，用来修饰形容词。例如：

   The match is much too expensive.这手表太贵了。

   It’s much too hot today.今天太热了。

   11．…they make him look smart… 它们使得他看上去很精神。

   1）在这里，make的意思是“使得”，look是宾语补足语，因为动词make后面跟不带to的动词不定式，所以to look省掉 to，只用look。例如：

   Don’t make students do too much homework. 不要使学生做太多的家庭作业。

   He always makes me laugh. 他总是使我笑。

   2）look smart中的look是系动词，因为后面smart是形容词。例如：

    That pie looks good. 那馅饼看起来很好吃。

   12．shoulder-length hair 披肩长发。

   length的意思是“长度”，它的形容词是long(长的)。shoulder-length是合成词，意思是“齐肩长的”。

   13．try to…

   try to do sth.“设法做某事”，指做某事有困难。例如

   I’ll try to help you with your English.我会设法帮你学英语。

   try doing sth.“试着做某事”，指尝试做看看效果如何。例如：

   Try doing it in another way.用另一种方法计试试看。

   14．one of…

   one of…“……之一”，这一短语常见的用法是：

   one of+形容词最高级+名词复数。例如：

   one of the most popular singers最受欢迎的歌手之一

   one of the fastest swimmers最快的游泳者之一

   〖注意〗“one of+形容词最高级+名词复数”如果在句中作主语，谓语动词要用单数。例如：One of the most popular  singers in China is Wang Lihong.中国最受欢迎的歌手之一是王力宏。

   One of the fastest swimmers in our class is Simon.我们班上最快的游泳者之一是西蒙。

   15．…because my best friend shouldn’t tell others my secret. 因为我的最好的朋友不该把我的秘密告诉他人。

   because (my best friend shouldn’t tell others my secret)引导的是原因状语从句。
